This introductory course spans six weeks and offers a fundamental understanding of the craft of glassblowing. Participants will be introduced to the necessary tools and techniques required to gather, shape, and inflate molten glass. As the course progresses, students will advance to transferring and shaping vessels. Each week will focus on the creation of a different glass object, ranging from paperweights to vases and bowls.
Led by an experienced glassblower, the course emphasizes safety protocols for navigating the hot shop environment and emphasizes the importance of collaborative teamwork.
Some cold working instruction will be provided, as well as basic use of colour.
