About Us
The Ottawa Glassblowing Co-op was founded in May 2019. Our mandate is to foster a glassblowing co-operative that operates inclusively to support the artistic creativity, learning and growth of its members and to engage and educate the public and community in the art of glass.
We plan to achieve this mandate by maintaining a high-level glassblowing facility that prioritizes a member-first principle with regards to both access to the facility as well as to glass blowing classes. Classes will be offered to support the learning and growth of its members and the broader glass blowing community in Ottawa.
The OGC will operate under a non profit model with all funds being used to support the facility and to maintain the glass and equipment at high quality. The OGC will offer specialized classes to encourage public interest, foster community engagement and to grow its membership.
The OGC believes diverseness cultivates creativity. We value uniqueness and everyone is welcome to our space regardless of skill level, race, gender, age, religion, identity, or experience.
The Ottawa Glassblowing Co-op is governed by an elected, volunteer Board of Directors:
Chair: James Wardhaugh
Vice-Chair & Member Engagement Officer: Linda Asselstine-Lappan
Treasurer: Sara Richer
Secretary: Scott O'Hearn
Program Director: Christina Ridley
Board meetings will be held monthly at a place to be determined.
We are always looking for volunteer help, either on committees or on the Board. If you are interested in participating, please email us.
Our General Manager, Laura Boyaner, reports to the Board of Director and leads the Co-op in achieving the mandate and strategic goals of the organization on a day-to-day basis. This is accomplished by actively seeking opportunities, engaging with other organizations, and working with the Financial Committee to achieve budgetary goals.
